CEDAR CREEK, TEXAS (Bastrop County).
Cedar Creek is located 11 miles west of Bastrop (west central Bastrop County) on Highway 21, between Highway 71 and FM 812. Highway 21 goes south to Highway 183, on to San Marcos,TX. Situated where it is, Cedar Creek is a fairly straightforward commute to either Austin or Bastrop.
There are numerous subdivisions situated throughout the area that you do not always see from the main roads, as well as large and small homesites. The landscape ranges from heavily wooded, with large old oak trees, to scrub brush and open pasture. It is a diverse area that is home to Cedar Creek (PK-4) Cedar Creek Intermediate School (gr.5-6) and Cedar Creek Middle School (gr. 7-8). High school students would go to Bastrop High School.
As with all areas around Austin Metro, Cedar Creek is developing rapidly, but it still has the feeling of country living. There are convenience stores with gas and family style restaurants. For shopping, fast food, theaters, etc. it is an leisurely to drive to Austin, Bastrop or Lockhart Texas.
