One of the parks located nearby is McKinney Falls State Park, located just off of Hwy.183 and Burleson Rd. McKinney Falls offers camping, fishing and day use facilities. There is a beautiful hike and bike trail that meanders along Onion Creek and through towering pecan, cypress and oak trees. It is not uncommon to see various wildlife and birds in this park. Another beautiful park in the area is also off of Hwy. 183, Burleson Rd. and FM 973 is Richard Moya Park. Moya Park offers only day use and some fishing. It has playgrounds and a hike and bike trail. There is also an old iron bridge which is part of the oringinal Congress Ave. bridge. Until a few years ago it was still used by vehicles to cross Onion Creek. When Burleson Rd. was extended the bridge was closed and now it is a footbridge and is an interesting fixture of the park. Southeast Metro Park is the newest park in the area. It is located on Hwy.71 at Ross Rd.. This park offers baseball, softball and soccer fields, playscapes and hike and bike trails. There is also some catch and release fishing allowed. Check with the parks on all rules and regulations. Residents in the area have a variety of choices available close at hand.
